Getting quality sleep is crucial for overall health and well-being. It helps restore our bodies and minds. Having a sleep disorder can negatively impact both mental and physical health. At the Community Hospital of Staunton Sleep Center, our team specializes in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating sleep disorders.
The Community Hospital of Staunton Sleep Center team includes Certified Sleep Medicine physicians and Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT) who oversee and perform sleep testing. We will help you get the good night’s sleep you deserve.
Sleep Study Test at Community Hospital of Staunton
Our team utilizes state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to ensure precise results when diagnosing sleep disorders. The most reliable method involves undergoing an overnight sleep study in a sleep lab. However, a Home Sleep Test (HST) may be recommended in some cases.
Sleep studies can be ordered by your primary care physician or through a referral from one of our certified sleep physicians for evaluation. Our sleep physicians review all completed sleep study data and send a final report with the results and their treatment recommendations, if needed, to the physician who ordered the sleep study.

The most common sleep disorders that we diagnose in patients at our Sleep Center are:
Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea is a condition in which a person stops breathing for short
Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (PLMD)
PLMD, also known as nocturnal myoclonus, is a sleep disorder that affects a person’s limbs and ability to sleep at night and function normally during the day. Individuals diagnosed with Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) may also suffer from PLMD while sleeping.
Narcolepsy
Narcolepsy is a neurological disorder that affects a person’s regulation of sleep-wake cycles.
Insomnia
Insomnia is a sleep disorder characterized by difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or experiencing non-restorative sleep despite having adequate opportunity for sleep.
